If you head East out of Queen Creek on Ocotillo, you'll find Homer's Smokehouse BBQ on the corner of Ocotillo and Meridian. Technically you've wondered just outside the Queen Creek city limits and entered San Tan Valley, AZ. Homer's offers a Southern-style BBQ experience and does it well.
We had family in town the first time we tried Homer's, and sometimes (not often) we don't feel like firing up the grill. To be honest, if it weren't for the fantastic reviews on Google and Yelp, we would have likely just chilled out in the backyard drinking our favorite local beer and playing the boombox. Ha! Fine, we would've been fighting over playlists that were streaming via WiFi through our wireless speaker system.
A cool gentle Autumn breeze, a lovely cloud layer, the beautiful colors of the Arizona desert landscape, the sound of hiking foot steps, mountain bike tires zooming, and the relaxed steps of hooves passing by...That's right it's that time of year in the Phoenix area when people venture out from their air-conditioned comfort and experience the great outdoors. After the intense summer heat, the desert becomes alive in the cooler fall season. Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department have several parks and events to choose from. Recently, we visited the San Tan Mountain Regional Park which was beaming with human activity, including our four legged companions...equine and canine equally. Autumn is the perfect time for all walks of life to get outdoors and enjoy the splendor this region has to offer.
